Because of intense community interest in the Oldcastle/Dolomite Group offering of Shadow Pines and Shadow Lake golf courses for sale earlier this year, I would like to share the following information:
On Wednesday, March 2 the Penfield Town Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed Local law No. 1 of 2016 which would put into effect a six to twelve month moratorium on development of the Shadow Pines and Shadow Lake golf course properties. The public hearing will be held in the Penfield Town Hall auditorium, 3100 Atlantic Avenue, at 7:00 p.m.
This public hearing is a formal step in the process to enact the moratorium proposed by the Penfield Town Board its February 3 meeting. As originators of the proposed moratorium, I expect the Town Board to vote unanimously in favor of the moratorium later in March.
The sole purpose of the March 2 public hearing is to give residents an opportunity to address the Town Board stating their support or opposition to the moratorium. We expect a full house, therefore we will ask speakers to briefly state their position—‘yes’ or ‘no’—so all who wish to address the Town Board may be heard in a timely manner. Overflow seating will be provided in the rotunda.
Those who do not wish to attend the public hearing may state their position in writing using this online form, or by letter to Town of Penfield Supervisor, 3100 Atlantic Avenue, Penfield, New York, 14526.
We will accept public feedback for or against the moratorium through 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2016. The Town Board is expected to vote on the moratorium at its March 23 meeting.
NOTE: All who wish to share their opinions and ideas regarding future land uses of ‘The Shadows’ properties will have opportunities to direct their comments to a committee that is being assembled to review land use and impacts during the moratorium period. The committee will solicit public input at future meetings and in writing. Follow www.penfield.org for details.
REMINDER: Penfield Town Board meetings are held at 7:00 pm in the Penfield Town Hall auditorium, 3100 Atlantic Avenue. They are broadcast LIVE on Penfield Television Government Access Cable CH 12 and 1304 / Digital CH 5.12 and 98.4, and streamed at www.penfield.org. There is a public comment period to address the Penfield Town Board on any topic at the open and close of each legislative meeting.
