|2017-05-05 - Irondequoit Bay High Water Advisory for Boaters
Due to high water levels, there are navigation hazards in the Bay including sunken docks, floating logs and driftwood. Further, invisible hazards may be present as underwater sandbars can shift under these conditions.
Reduce speeds throughout Irondequoit Bay and observe the “no wake” advisory within 500 feet of the shoreline. Water levels in Lake Ontario and the Bay are much higher than the long-term average for this time of year and are expected to rise. High water levels coupled with wave action are causing significant erosion, damage, and flooding along the shoreline and adjacent properties.
Reminder: Every boater is always responsible for any damage their wake creates.
