Last night the Penfield Town Board passed resolution 18T-089 to adopt a local law extending the moratorium and prohibition of public golf course redevelopment within the Town of Penfield. The moratorium is in effect through March 31, 2019. (The Town Board held a public hearing regarding the moratorium extension on March 21, 2018.)
The moratorium extension serves two key purposes. Most importantly, it will support the efforts of the Town’s 2020 Comprehensive Plan Update Committee as it works with staff and outside consultants to review and address residential, commercial, and recreational properties; the status and progress of the new Mixed Use District; infrastructure; multi-modal connectivity; sustainability; aging in place for elders; medical services; schools; rezoning opportunities; and new zoning districts.
The extension will also cover the gap in the March 30, 2018 moratorium expiration and the expected mid- to late-April closing date for the Town’s purchase of the former Shadow Pines property.
