Penfield’s annual Tastin’ the Blues will be held on Saturday, September 14 at Penfield Amphitheater and Kiwanis Stage, from 12:00—4:00 PM. This free event will include chili judging, beer sampling, and blues music.
“As the weather begins to cool down each year, I look forward to the hot chili and cool blues music at this great fall event,” says Penfield Supervisor Tony LaFountain. “I encourage everyone to come show off their award-winning chili recipes!”
Anyone who has a favorite chili recipe is invited to enter the chili contest. Chili entries will be judged by a panel. Prize packages will be awarded to the top three winners, and the first place package will include a $100 cash prize. Registration forms and rules for the chili contest can be found at the Penfield Recreation office, 1985 Baird Rd., Penfield, or on our website at www.penfieldrec.org.
We are pleased to welcome back Genesee Brew House this year, who will provide samples of their top micro brews for those who are over 21, and Steve Grills and the Roadmasters, with special guest Joe Beard, will bring their hard-driving, Chicago-style blues music to the stage.
The second annual Dog’s Day Out will be held in conjunction with Tastin’ the Blues to entertain Penfield’s furry residents. Bring your dog and let him try out an agility course, as well as other games and activities for dogs and their humans. All dogs must be leashed and friendly.
Penfield Amphitheater and Kiwanis Stage is located in Veterans’ Memorial Park, behind Penfield Town Hall at 3100 Atlantic Avenue. These events are free and open to the public.
