The “Friends of the Penfield Public Library” (FPPL) will host the group’s 43rd Annual Used Book Sale September 10-14 at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road. Proceeds benefit the Penfield Public Library. All are welcome.
The sale features more than 85,000 items sorted into 50 categories in four themed rooms. Categories include books, audio books, videos, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records, games, puzzles, and software. Hardcover and paperback books are $1.00, mass market paperbacks and smaller are 50 cents. Many specials are individually priced. Shoppers may pay with cash, checks, or credit.
“The Friends’ Book Sale is a great example of community support for the library,” said Bernadette Brinkman, Penfield Library Director. “Residents donate materials to be resold to their neighbors, the library donates materials discarded to make room for new acquisitions, and attendees purchase those materials for their home libraries yielding revenue we can use to enhance library services for everyone. In addition to supporting ongoing services, such as museum passes, the Children’s Room fish tank, and the popular BookPage book review publication, this year the Friends funded an upgrade to the projection system in our Braman Meeting Room, combining the ease of digital operation with high resolution visuals to enhance presentation quality.”
