Over the past several weeks many residents have asked me about the status of the Shadow Pines conceptual master plan. If you recall, the town board asked to have proposals submitted by September 20 for review at the September 25 work session, with final approval at the October 2 legislative meeting. Based on the number of proposals received and the amount of detail to study, the board asked for an additional time to review the documents. At the October 23 meeting the board recommended moving forward with BME Associates, and at the November 6 legislative meeting the board adopted a resolution to authorize a contract.
BME has been actively working on a plan/report and will be submitting a draft copy to the town board towards the end of January. We will post this report on our website for public review. A public information meeting will be scheduled after the school winter break to allow any and all interested residents a chance to comment on the plan. The town board is looking to adopt the plan by early March.

Recent mild temperatures have some residents grateful for minimal snow and ice to deal with and others are frustrated that downhill and cross-country skiing and other winter sports have been impacted. The Penfield Recreation Department is planning a family “winter snow” night out on Friday, February 7 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Harris Whalen Park’s upper and lower pavilions. Come out and enjoy the winter weather with sledding, snow-shoeing, snow sculpture building, a hike under the full moon, and more! If Mother Nature does not cooperate with SNOW, the hike led by the Penfield Trails Committee will still be on for the evening. The event is FREE and fun for all ages!
Until next week…be well and be safe!
