- Supervisor’s column February 3, 2020

I begin this week’s column with an update on the Shadow Pines Conceptual Master Plan. Our consultant, BME Associates, has completed a draft of the conceptual master plan. They will submit the draft plan to the town board at the February 12 work session and provide a high level overview. The draft plan will be published on the town website following the work session for all to view. After that, I expect the town board to pass a resolution at the February 19 legislative meeting to schedule a public information meeting regarding the draft plan for Wednesday, March 11 at 7:00 PM. Any and all interested residents will be able to comment on the draft plan at the public information meeting. The town board will also accept emails and other written comments prior to the information meeting and for a week following the meeting to ensure residents have the ability to provide input and feedback.

Next Monday, February 10, is the last day to pay Town/County taxes in full without interest. The Tax Receiver’s Office in the town hall is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to accept payments. If you cannot make it in during business hours, you may deposit your payment after hours using a drop box located near the door on the east side of the town hall. The box is secure and it is checked several times a day. A receipt will be mailed to you once your payment is processed. If you have any questions about your bill, please call the Tax Receiver’s Office at 340-8626.

Now that we are all getting back to our normal routines after the holidays, I’d like to remind everyone that the Penfield Ecumenical Food Shelf continues to work hard to help support those less fortunate in our community. The PEFS is always in need of food donations to help keep the shelves stocked. To learn more about this wonderful community organization and their current wish list of needed items, please go to Thank you in advance for your support, it does make a difference!

The next Flapjack Saturday Community Fundraiser sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Penfield (FBP) will be held on Saturday, February 15 from 8:00 to 10:00 AM at 1862 Penfield Road. FBP invites you for delicious pancakes, pure maple syrup, scrambled eggs, sausage, and more…all for just $6.00 per person. February proceeds will go directly to benefit Refugees Helping Refugees (RHR). RHR seeks to foster the growth of Rochester’s refugee community by making them agents of their own advancement. So bring the whole family, meet up with friends, or make new ones. Fellowship Hall is an accessible facility and the breakfast is outstanding! For more information and details visit

Reminder…the next Penfield Symphony Orchestra concert Caramia and Rodgers: Our Favorite Valentines is scheduled for Monday, February 24 at 7:30 PM at the Penfield High School Auditorium. Free rides to the concert are available from Lifespan by calling 872-0774. Visit for more information about the PSO and this concert.

Penfield Players, your community theatre, announces its “winter readers’ theatre.” This season’s production is the Cinderella Waltz by Don Nigro on Saturday, February 22 and Sunday, February 23 at 2:00 PM at the Penfield Community Center. In this play, Rosey Snow is trapped in a fairy tale world that turns funny and a little frightening…and who can blame her? She is faced with a demented stepmother, a possibly homicidal village idiot, a fairy godmother who sings salty old sailor songs, and so much more! This production combines numerous versions of the world’s most popular fairy tale into a hilarious, yet sometimes dark, retelling. Equal parts farce and romantic fantasy…get ready for a truly entertaining fairy tale for adults. This program is FREE to the public, look for more information on at

Until next week, be well and be safe!
