Yesterday we co-hosted our second mask distribution with Monroe County. As you may have seen on the news, the turnout county-wide was even more tremendous than the first event last Saturday. In Penfield, we handed out roughly 38,000 masks over a five-hour period. I would like to thank all the volunteers and Town staff who helped to distribute the masks at a pace of more than 7,000 masks per hour! I also want to thank the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and our DPW for keeping the traffic moving and minimizing the impact to Route 441, Whalen Road, and Five Mile Line Road. At this time no future mask give-aways are planned.
Beginning Monday, May 18, in accordance with New York State’s Phase I guidelines, our Building Department will resume APPOINTMENT ONLY support of building construction activities. This includes residential building projects, contractors working on behalf of residents, and developers. Construction projects include new builds, remodels, sheds, decks, pools, fireplace inserts, and other actions that require permits and inspections from the Town of Penfield Building Department.
We will provide more details regarding this process and requirements at www.penfield.org early Friday, May 15. During Phase I, only the Building Department may schedule appointments. All other business with the Town will continue to be managed remotely by phone, email, or website until further notice.
