I have a few updates to share as we begin the week of June 22.
Town playgrounds were reopened to the public on June 15 as permitted by New York State Phase 3 guidelines. To help minimize the spread of coronavirus, our park facilities team has applied an organic sodium-based sanitizing treatment that remains effective for one month. Playgrounds are routinely inspected for safety on a monthly basis; we will now add the sanitizing application to this procedure.
Penfield Recreation’s Summer Day Camp program is planning to kick-off the summer on June 29 at two locations: the Penfield Community Center and Harris Whalen Lodge. With guidance from New York State, the Monroe County Health Dept., and Town of Penfield officials, the 2020 Summer Day Camp program will operate with reduced participant enrollment numbers and updated health procedures to help maximize the health and safety for all involved in the program. Weekly summer camp sessions will include outdoor and indoor games/activities with emphasis on safety and fun! Although most programs are full, you can go to www.penfieldrec.org online registration to join a waiting list at no cost. Penfield Recreation summer camp staff look forward to having a great summer with all of the new and returning campers.
If all goes well, the Finger Lakes region, including Monroe County, is on track to enter Phase 4 this Friday, June 26. We will learn more from officials as the week progresses.
The Huntington Meadows sidewalk project continues this week with concrete pouring, asphalt work, and lawn restoration. The road will remain closed to local traffic only. There may be access weeknights but the work site is subject to frequent closures until the project is complete. Please plan alternate routes.
