A message from Supervisor Tony LaFountain regarding former Town Supervisor Irene Gossin
Yesterday we learned of the passing of former Town Supervisor, Irene Gossin.
On behalf of the Penfield Town Board, town staff, and the Penfield community, I wish to extend our condolences to the Gossin family.
Irene served the Town of Penfield as a five-term supervisor from 1972-79 and 1982-83. She was Penfield’s 35th town supervisor and first female leader. Irene later served Penfield as our Monroe County legislator for the 15th legislative district.
Irene is regarded for her passion for environmental preservation, especially for the lands around Irondequoit Bay.
I had the honor of working for Irene when she hired me into the building & zoning department when I was a fresh college graduate. I thank Irene for her public service and sustained commitment to our great town.
