Penfield’s Young Open and Honest Players (YOHP) will perform the original play Carnival of Dreams on August 10 & 11 at 7:30 pm at Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Rd. The previously advertised summer musical The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!) has been canceled.
Carnival of Dreams is written and directed by 16-year-old Emma Milligan as part of YOHP’s Young Playwrights Project, which included a 10-minute Play Festival, with plays written by 5 members of YOHP.
Carnival of Dreams
After being cast from his throne in a violent revolution, a young, lost prince stumbles upon an eerie carnival lorded over by a beautiful yet sadistic princess and manned by a rag tag group of carnies. After finding long lost faces from his past and falling head over heels for the princess, he realizes exactly how bizarre the bloody game they run is, and turns everything on it's head when he succeeds. Based on Puccini's beloved and incomplete opera Turandot, The Carnival of Lost Dreams takes a delectably creepy spin on a classic tale of family, blood and unrequited love.
Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the Penfield Recreation office, 1985 Baird Rd. For more information, please call (585) 340-8655.
Young Open and Honest Players is a youth drama program run through Penfield Recreation for junior high and high school students.
