DEAR Teams Up with Nazareth University Art Therapy Studies

We are proud to announce our collaboration with Nazareth University’s Graduate Art Therapy studies, bringing you innovative and mindful creative programs specifically designed for participants who may not consider themselves artists.

Mindful Stitching will start on Tuesday, February 6, from 1:00–2:00PM through April 23.  Here is your opportunity to slow down, be present in the moment, and engage in a mindful, artistic expression. The act of stitching practice is not only about creating tangible items but also about the journey and experience of stitching itself. It can be a valuable tool for stress reduction, enhancing focus, and promoting overall well-being.  Needlework projects will be guided by Sydney Dlhopolsky, Graduate student from Nazareth University. This is a free DEAR program and introductory materials will be provided. Interested participants please register to attend through the Penfield Recreation Department with activity #166411-Q.

Open Studio will begin on Friday, February 9 from 1:00–2:30PM through April 26. All are invited to join Art Therapy graduate students in an open studio. Follow along with a weekly project or work on your own idea. You will use mindful approaches and receive support from one another while learning something new and creating some art! Being creative is very therapeutic and a great emotional outlet. You can use this time for personal growth or to just have fun! No art skills necessary, the focus is on creativity and expressing yourself. Feel free to join in at any time during the studio time. This is a free program. Interested participants can register through the Penfield Recreation Department using activity number 166414-I.
