Calling all electric vehicle enthusiasts! Penfield’s 5th annual Electric Car Show is this Saturday, April 22, from 1:00 to 4:30 PM at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road. Cars from private owners, dealers, and members of the New York State Electric Auto Association will be on hand to display most electric cars on the market today. Experts will be on hand to provide details around the Federal Tax Credit and the NYS Rebate Program for plug-in electric vehicles, and they will conduct a question and answer session for attendees. “Bri-Pen Senior Rides,” a volunteer transportation service, will be launching on Monday, May 1. Seniors 65+ who live within Brighton-Penfield (or pay taxes within either district) are eligible to participate. Rides will be available for medical appointments or religious services only. This Sunday, April 23, at 2:30 PM, Town Historian Kathy Kanauer and Local History Room volunteer Diane Dayton Riley will share insights into the westernmost part of our town. Kathy will present a brief history of the area and Diane will relate her personal story of growing up in West Penfield. Come learn how this side of town, containing Irondequoit Creek and Bay, played an important role in the early development of Penfield. The program is a collaboration of the Penfield Library and Local History Room staff. It will be held at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Road.
